Subject:New H2020 5G Project called 5G-ROUTES kicks off!

Text On the 17th and 18th of September 2020, a new 5G related project with acronym “5G-ROUTES” and title “5th Generation connected and automated mobility cross-border EU trials” held a successful online kick-off meeting with the participation of 22 partners and the coordination of ERICSSON EESTI AS, by Mr. Urmas Ruuto.

5G-ROUTES project, will last 3 years and conclude in August 2023. Is a 5G-PPP Phase 3 project whose aim is to validate through robust evidence the latest 5G features and 3GPP specifications (R.16 & R.17) of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) under realistic conditions. In particular, it will conduct advanced large-scale field trials of most representative CAM applications to demonstrate seamless functionality across a prominent 5G cross-border corridor (Via Baltica-North), traversing Latvia, Estonia and Finland.

Dr. Loizos Christofi, R&D Director, and Mr. Christos Skoufis, R&D Project Manager, represented eBOS Technologies at the online kick-off-meeting. During the meeting all the partners introduced their organisations and the discussion was mainly focused on the role of each partner in the project, but also the work needs to be performed under each Work Package, especially during the first 6 months of the project. Moreover, the main goal was to establish a common vision for the project.

eBOS will lead the Innovation & Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Management of the project. Moreover, eBOS will participate in all the activities related to the requirements analysis, use cases and preparation for CAM trials. eBOS will also lead the design and development of the Tenant Web Portal (as part of the development of technological enablers for CAM trials), along with its deployment as a service in the cloud. eBOS will leverage the KPI visualisation system from the 5G-PPP project 5G-SOLUTIONS, extending its functionality to cover the CAM use cases in 5G-ROUTES. eBOS will contribute towards onboarding and engaging with external SMEs and start-ups to encourage them to contribute to the project with new components, to address new CAM use cases and to submit ideas on how to best exploit 5G-ROUTES results. eBOS will also be engaged in collaboration activities with the 5G PPP Working Groups in which the company actively participates.

This project has received funding from the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 951867.
