Subject:eBOS discusses security, safety and privacy aspects of the Internet of Things at open research and innovation workshop

IOT is becoming more and more pervasive in our everyday lives, be it at home, in factories, airports and other transportation modes. Aspects connected with security, safety and privacy of IoT will be key to a secure and wider diffusion of solutions based on this type of technology.

On the 9th of May 2019, our colleagues Christos Skoufis, Project Manager, and Vasos Hadjioannou, Software Engineer, attended the Second Open Workshop co-organised by the Horizon 2020 CHARIOT and VESSEDIA projects.

Titled ‘The road ahead for a cognitive computing platform supporting a unified approach towards privacy, security and safety of IOT systems’, the event brought together researchers, industries and final users interested in the integration of IOT solutions in innovative services in a manner that ensures compliance with data safety and privacy standards and builds end-user trust.

eBOS presentation focused on the security needs of the transport sector, with examples drawn from the experience of two industrial CHARIOT project partners, Trenitalia (rail network) and Athens International Airport (air transport).
The Workshop took place at the IBM Technology Campus in Dublin and accommodated more than 50 participants. During the workshop, actions of cooperation between the CHARIOT and VESSEDIA projects were discussed as well as with other IoT projects funded under the Horizon 2020 program.
