Subject:Designing a strong IT architecture for the FENIX Platform

The FENIX - European Federated Network of Information eXchange in LogistiX - project entered a new phase focused on the Technical Integration of the first European federated architecture for data-sharing along the nine Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) corridors.

On the 13th and 14th of November 2019, eBOS colleagues Philippos Philippou, Senior R&D Project Manager, and Kyriakos Petrou, Software Developer, took part in the technical meeting held in Athens, Greece and hosted by consortium partner Inlecom. The meeting brought together 19 participants from 8 countries and was chaired by representatives of Atos Spain, leader of the Activity 3 of the project.

The objectives of the meeting were to:

  • review and discuss the recommendations and vision for the FENIX project from the Sub-Group 2 'Corridor Information Systems' of the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum;
  • consider industry requirements and findings of the strategic dialogue organised with logistics and transport stakeholders through the preparation of the pilot sites’ roll out;
  • jointly design the high-level FENIX IT architecture, based on expected behaviour and federation governance;
  • define the technical specifications of the federative network of platforms for data-sharing, security and privacy beyond the current state-of-the-art.

In FENIX, eBOS will be mainly involved in the integration of the technological blocks of the FENIX federative network of platforms, leveraging its extensive experience in ICT to deliver on the vision of a ‘digital’ European transport industry. Designing a strong IT architecture for the FENIX federative network of platforms kickstarts the integration activities to which the eBOS Team will contribute.

FENIX is a project funded by the European Union under agreement no INEA/CEF/TRAN/M2018/1793401 for the Connecting Europe Facility.
