The European Union and its Member States face several new and complex security and cybersecurity threats, highlighting the need for further synergies and closer cooperation at all levels.

On the 5th and 6th of February 2020, Dr Loizos Christofi, eBOS R&D Director, and Ms. Gotelenne Piaton, eBOS R&D Programme & Communications Manager, attended the Security Helix event organised, at the University of Cyprus, by the KIOS Centre and the Crowdhelix network. The event brought together academia, business, government and industry representatives from all over Europe in view of fostering collaboration and the formation of consortia for the upcoming Security and Cybersecurity Horizon 2020 calls.

The agenda included:

  • Presentations focusing on perspectives from First Responders and Law Enforcement Authorities by the Cyprus Civil Defence and Cyprus Police Representatives, respectively;
  • An introduction to the Crowdhelix network, the pan-European Open Innovation platform connecting universities, research organisations & companies, in which eBOS is an SME member since 2018;
  • One-to-one meeting sessions between participants;
  • Parallel themed sessions focusing on specific upcoming Security and Cybersecurity Horizon 2020 calls.

‘The Security Helix Event is a great opportunity to meet current and potential partners interested to collaborate in future Horizon 2020 calls’, said Dr. Christofi. We look forward to forming strong consortia and joining efforts with high-profile partners for the upcoming Security & Cybersecurity calls’, he added.
